Overview

The main mission of EPNOE is to perform the best world-class, multidisciplinary research on polysaccharides, to develop a strong link with the EU industry, to invent new materials and disseminate polysaccharide knowledge at all levels of society.

Through numerous meetings such as Brainstorming, Research Task Force meetings or Research Work Package discussions the 16 partners have built a common programme of research activities which includes:

  • a Research Road Map (RRM) that gives the common research direction for the next 10 years
  • a set of Fundamental Research Projects
  • a pool of experimental facilities combining the expertise of all partners
  • several internal EPNOE protocols offered as experimental services open to academic and industrial R&D centres outside EPNOE
  • a set of common EU research projects among EPNOE partners and with industry

So the main targets of research activities are:

  • Generation of innovative ideas
  • Road mapping
  • Planning of common research
  • Development of scientific basic knowledge and competence
  • Evaluation of research, contribution to solving social and environmental issues
  • Offering services and applied research activities
  • Preparing and structuring European projects
