EPNOE Research Fundamental Themes Overview

Increasing the fundamental knowledge on polysaccharide materials is performed through six Fundamental Themes. Each Fundamental Theme has a multi-annual research programme performed in common by several Members:

• Fundamental Theme 1: Composition and structure of bio-assemblies
• Fundamental Theme 2: Extraction of its polymeric components, dissolution behaviour, solution properties
• Fundamental Theme 3: New derivatives by enzymatic and chemical modifications
• Fundamental Theme 4: Polysaccharide-polysaccharide assemblies, development of polysaccharide re-assemblies
• Fundamental Theme 5: Surfaces characterisation and modifications
• Fundamental Theme 6: Polysaccharides in human technologies
